Homemade Soy Sauce? YES WE DID! (Wild Shoyu)
Made with wild Pheasant's Back (Dryads Saddle) mushrooms, this delicious lighter style 'soy' sauce is loaded with Umami. It is a simple koji rice fermentation that ages for 1-2 months before it is strained and bottled. Enjoy this wild mushroom shoyu just like you would soy sauce - in stir frys, marinades, dressings and more.

This Is How We Grow & Process Luffas For Sponges
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.5 месяцев назад
This is our method of growing and processing luffas for sponges. Luffas (loofahs) have been grown for centuries as both a food item and a scrubby sponge like item that can be used just like any other sponge or dish scrubby. The best part, these home grown sponges are completely biodegradable and put zero micro-plastics into the environment. It's also really cool telling folks that in a northern...
We Built A GIGANTIC Solar Powered Food Dehydrator Machine!

This is the giant solar powered food dehydrator that we built. It includes a primary heater for dehydrating foods that require a higher temperature, a small solar panel and a small solar powered 12 volt fan. In this video we show how we built the dehydrator as well as a few of the food items that we have successfully dehydrated in the unit including blueberries and sun dried tomatoes. WATER STR...

This Is How We Preserve Our Wild Mushroom Harvest

Some of the tastiest and healthiest mushrooms grow wild. We harvest several varieties of wild mushrooms including golden or yellow chanterelles. We like to make sure we have these available to eat all year long, so we preserve them using a couple of different methods. Wild mushrooms like these chanterelles are very high in naturally occurring vitamin D due to where they grow, exposed to sunligh...
This Is How We Preserve Hundreds Of Eggs For Long Term Storage
Просмотров 31 тыс.Год назад
Our aim is to grow and raise as much of our own food as possible, towards achieving this we raise our own chickens for eggs. Just like our produce though, egg production is seasonal, with our ladies slowing down and sometimes coming to a complete stop in the winter. To make sure we have enough eggs for our cooking and baking needs in the winter, we dehydrate hundreds of eggs and make powder. Th...

So I live in texas and I bought 2 dozen Canadian worms for fishing about a 5 months ago I keep them in my fridge I don't think I have babies but I never seem to run out of worms how will I be able to make sure they are happy and healthy and making babies. I'm not sure if I just bought more then 2 dozen and that's how I keep having them or if they are making babies and I'm just missing the tiny ones

That was a great idea with the tomato and squash seeds. If you’re able to, setting the paper towels on a screen or rack would work much quicker, but it seems you got it pretty dialled in anyway,

Great video! So, I was always told raw river fish couldn't be fed to dogs? We actually had a schnauzer who got into some fish heads after a fishing trip and almost died from salmon poisoning. Is it a hit & miss sort of thing? Or maybe just different parts of the country it's more of a risk? I know you have a trout here, maybe trout is safer than salmon.

Wood is cheaper and fine if you’re doing it for personal consumption. But wood can harbor growth for mold, fungus and microbes so you can’t use it if you’re doing this for commercial purposes to sell. Creates a biological risk for inoculating your product with mold and yeast spores.

If you line the bottom of your hydrater with a dark colured corrugated iron it will absorb heat & radiate it back up under the produce. Also, if you cut the legs at one end so the table is on an angle & the vent holes at the top high end the hot air will rise up to the top creating a natural hot air circulation over the produce increasing the drying effect & no fan required. I don't see this question asked/answered. I was wondering, how does the RO filter hold up over time? Do the canisters have to be replaced each run, often, or ever? Any cleaning or maintenance on them to keep them running clean? Great video.

We replace the membranes each year. They’re relatively inexpensive and it saves us having to try to preserve them in the various solutions available. We go through a few sediment filters each season. The system gets backwashed after every boil and the membranes stored in the fridge until we fire up the evaporator again in a day or two.
